Y(A)KY/Y(A)KXS cable connection with AsXSn overhead cable

In the practice of building nlk overhead lines, there is often a need to connect a cable to an overhead wire or to make a cable branch from the main overhead line. The structure of the Y(A)KY/Y(A)KXS cable (mainly single-wire sector conductors) differs significantly from the structure of AsXSn cables (only multi-wire round conductors). This causes problems with connecting them to each other. The solutions offered by Sicame are connections made with TTD 401 FTA or NTD 401 AFTA clamps.

We pre-install the clamps on the AsXSn cable. Form the cable attached to the pole into an inverted U. Remove the cable sheath at the appropriate length. At the end of the coating, we put on a four-finger heat shrink tube and shrink it. We connect the individual cable cores to the appropriate terminals.

  1. When using the NTD 401 AFTA clamp, we remove the insulation from individual wires over a length equal to the width of the clamp. Using a press equipped with appropriate stones, we reform the insulated conductors in a round shape and insert them into the terminal on the side intended for connecting bare wires. Then tighten the bolts of the clamps with shearable heads evenly until they break (Fig.)
  2. When using TTD 401 FTA type clamps, there is no need to remove the insulation from the cable core and reform it. Insert the insulated conductor into the terminal at the branch point as far as it will go and tighten the shear-head terminal screws evenly until they break. Ranges of connected cables and wires: 4 x (50–120 mm²)*
